Since Spooky 8: The Final Mission was published in 1999, I have received more than 45,000 emails. All but about 50 of those have been positive. There have been a surprising number of e-mails from young people, 12 through 18, looking for advice on the military, special operations and what they should do. A surprising number of women have read and liked the book. I've had e-mails from former political figures, retired military officers as well as enlisted men and women, and a bunch from current military folks from all branches of the services.

The book remains in print and continues to sell. A Hollywood producer has been leading an effort to translate the story into a movie and is now talking to studios. Whether The Final Mission will ever see the big screen, only time will tell, but check back here and I'll keep you informed.

In the meantime, I've been developing other projects. Among them, I am helping with a local CERT - Citizens Emergency Response Team. These volunteer citizen teams are forming throughout the country. Members are trained as first responders so they will be able to help their own communities in case of disaster. This is a great way for every citizen to be involved, learn valuable skills, and help keep our country strong by working at a local level.
